Self Taught Artist
Lar Joyce is a self-taught artist based in Wexford. His artistic talent was apparent from an early age and growing up in the countryside, he found his inspiration through nature and animals. These are still his favourite subjects and his work in oils and charcoal are now sought after and can be found as part of many art collections across Ireland.
Painter of Horses
As an equine artist, Lar captures the perfect form and majesty of the horses he draws and paints. His repertoire includes many other farmyard animals and he is renowned for his ability to portray their individual personalities, particularly in his work of highland cattle, cows and bison.
Lar displays obvious natural technical ability but it is the fact that he is self-taught that makes him a truly intuitive artist and sets him apart.
Commissions
He is regularly commissioned for portraits. Lar also teaches art techniques to adults and children.
